Awake and focused, without the edge

Two capsules deliver 200 mg of caffeine matched one-to-one with 200 mg of L-theanine, 300 mg of rhodiola, and a B-complex built for the pathways caffeine actually leans on. The result people describe is alertness without jitter, and no cliff in the afternoon.

We are going to be straight about what this is. It is an energy and focus capsule. It also carries a genuine metabolic active that almost nothing else on the shelf does — but if you are looking for a thermogenic fat burner, this is not that, and we would rather say so than let the name do the lying.

It used to be called SuperBURN. We renamed it.

A name that promises burning sets you up to expect an ephedrine-tier thermogenic, and what this actually delivers is clean, level alertness. When the label and the experience disagree, the label is what is wrong. So we changed it to describe what two capsules actually do.

The fat-loss angle lives in the injectable. This is the one you take to be awake.

01 — The CNS axis

Caffeine is the easy part. Not feeling wired is the hard part.

Anyone can put caffeine in a capsule. The reason most stimulant products are unpleasant is that they stop there, or stack a second stimulant on the first. This formula spends most of its mass on the other side of that equation.

Caffeine, 200 mg. An adenosine receptor antagonist — it blocks A1 and A2A receptors, preventing the tired signal adenosine normally delivers. Essentially complete oral absorption, Tmax around 30–45 minutes, half-life near five hours, so a single morning dose carries a tail through late afternoon. 200 mg is the band research associates with cognitive benefit without meaningful tremor or jitter.

Why 1:1 and not the usual 1:2 — we got this wrong first

L-theanine is a glutamate analogue from tea that crosses the blood-brain barrier readily. Research describes it as increasing alpha wave activity — the relaxed- alert state — and raising GABA and dopamine, reducing caffeine-induced anxiety while preserving the wakefulness you took the caffeine for. The synergy is well-documented in cognitive performance trials (Owen 2008; Haskell 2008).

Most formulas run 1:2, caffeine to theanine. Ours ran 1:2 as well, and testers reported drowsiness. Excess theanine tipped the balance sedative and undercut the entire point of the product. Dropping to 200 mg against 200 mg produced the focused-calm profile without the sag. That change came from tester feedback rather than from a table, and it is the sort of thing you only find by running the prototype and listening to what comes back.

Rhodiola rosea, 300 mg, standardised to a minimum of 3% rosavins and 1% salidroside. Research describes rosavins and salidrosides as modulating the HPA axis, reducing the cortisol response to stressors and extending mental endurance under fatigue. Randomised trials (Darbinyan 2007; Olsson 2009) report reduced mental fatigue and improved cognitive performance under stress across a 200–600 mg range; 300 mg sits mid-range, enough for measurable effect without overshoot. It works on a slower clock than caffeine, which is what extends the usable window through the afternoon.

The standardisation is not a formality. Bulk rhodiola varies enormously in active content, and an unstandardised extract at 300 mg can carry a fraction of the rosavins the research used. Specifying the marker compounds is the difference between a dose and a weight.

Glycine, 80 mg, for the same reason theanine is there — glycinergic and GABAergic activity providing gentle CNS calming. Deliberately sub-sedating: enough to smooth the stimulant edge, not enough to make you drowsy. It also feeds methylation through the serine–glycine cycle and is one of the three residues in glutathione.

B6 and B12 are there because the pathways caffeine and rhodiola lean on are enzymatic. B6 is a cofactor for dopamine, serotonin, GABA and norepinephrine synthesis — someone depleted in it does not get the full stimulant response, and daily stimulant use raises neurotransmitter turnover. 5 mg sits far below the long-term upper limit while covering that turnover. Methylcobalamin is the bioactive B12 form requiring no conversion, and it matters more here than in a typical B-complex — see below.

02 — The metabolic axis

A second mechanism, running on a different clock

Everything above works on the central nervous system and you feel it inside an hour. What follows works on cellular energy supply, builds over weeks, and is the reason this is not simply a well-built caffeine product.

The drain. Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase consumes two valuable molecules in a single reaction — it methylates nicotinamide, a precursor the body recycles into NAD+, using SAM, the universal methyl donor. Research describes NNMT as upregulated two to three-fold in obese and metabolically impaired tissue, so the people with the least metabolic headroom run the largest version of the leak. Inhibiting it is described as sparing both pools at once.

The refill. Niacinamide is a direct NAD+ precursor, and it is here because the two work as a pair rather than as a list: 5-Amino-1MQ plugs the drain, niacinamide fills the tank. It is the amide form rather than niacin, so there is no flush to limit adherence, and 75 mg is a low-flush therapeutic amount. Held deliberately there rather than higher — high nicotinamide works against the sirtuin side of the equation, so more would be counterproductive.

And the methylation loop closes with the B12. Inhibiting NNMT means more SAM is preserved, but SAM has to be regenerated as it is used, and methylated B12 is one of the inputs to that cycle. The methylcobalamin is not general-purpose B-complex filler — it is there because of what the 5-Amino-1MQ is doing upstream of it.

Chloride salt only — the iodide form is dangerous at this dose

5-Amino-1MQ is sold as either a chloride or an iodide salt, and the iodide is cheaper and more common from bulk suppliers. At the milligram amounts used here, an iodide salt would deliver roughly eighty times the tolerable upper intake level for iodine per dose. Taken daily, that is a route to thyroid dysfunction — on a product whose whole purpose is energy and metabolism, which is about as counterproductive as an ingredient choice can get. We use the chloride salt. Always.

On dose and route. 5-Amino-1MQ is a charged methylquinolinium with limited passive absorption. Rat pharmacokinetic data puts oral bioavailability near 38% with a half-life around 6.9 hours — which is what makes it suited to a morning capsule: it comes on gradually and carries a long tail through the afternoon, on a slower clock than the caffeine sitting alongside it. 50 mg taken orally lands somewhere near 19 mg delivered.

Worth knowing: the compound produces noticeable general wakefulness and cognitive tone in its own right, plausibly through NAD+ supporting mitochondrial ATP output in neurons. So it is not only the metabolic component that earns its place in a product called WideAwake — it contributes to the effect the name describes. Real-world reports also consistently mention it helping break weight-loss stalls in people plateaued on GLP-1 therapy, TRT or dietary restriction.

Two honest limits. The bioavailability and half-life figures are rat data, not human — we have not seen them replicated in people and will not present them as though we had. And research on 5-Amino-1MQ overall is preclinical: as of early 2026 there are no published human clinical trials. The mechanism is clean and the animal and cell work is consistent. The human effect size is not established, by us or by anyone.

03 — How they stack

Two independent axes, two different timescales

Caffeine drives the wakefulness. Theanine smooths it into focused calm. Rhodiola extends the usable window and buffers stress-driven fatigue. Glycine keeps the stimulant edge sub-anxious. B6 and B12 keep the neurotransmitter pathways caffeine depends on from depleting under daily use.

Niacinamide and 5-Amino-1MQ are not part of that conversation at all. They operate on cellular energy supply — one providing NAD+ substrate, the other preventing it being wasted — supporting mitochondrial ATP production on a mechanism entirely separate from the stimulant story.

Which means the effect has two components on two clocks: immediate, the stimulant you feel within the hour, and cumulative, the NAD+ and mitochondrial support that builds across weeks of daily use. Most energy products only have the first one, which is why they feel identical on day one and day ninety.

Fill weight is 460 mg per capsule in a size 00 shell rated to roughly 735 mg, leaving comfortable headroom for consistent filling rather than packing to capacity. HPMC shell — vegetarian, and better moisture stability than gelatin, which matters for a hygroscopic blend.

03 — In practice

How it runs

Two capsules, once daily. Most people take it in the morning; if you are sensitive to caffeine, note that 200 mg is roughly two cups of coffee and plan the timing accordingly. The rhodiola and the B-complex are working on a slower schedule than the caffeine, so the profile is less front-loaded than a straight stimulant.

If what you actually want is the metabolic mechanism at full strength, the honest answer is that subcutaneous delivery is the efficient route for this compound — roughly two and a half times the delivered dose per milligram.
